On Saturday 14 December 2024, we held an all-day Winter Mindfulness Retreat at The Study Society, as a thank-you to all of our staff who we have had the privilege of supporting since 2021.
The day was met with keen attendance, with 34 people attending and taking part in the introduction to mindfulness practice, exploration of other mindfulness practices in movement and stillness, and reflection-sharing led by our mindfulness instructor Peter Helmer. Peter was joined by Dr. Kirran Ahmad, also known as “The Dance Doctor”, who led the introductory talk on her own experience of Burnout and facilitated the dance movement practices at the end of the day! With a beautiful and sunny garden space to relax in, free curry and mindful vibes all around, a great and enjoyable day was had by all.
A big thank-you also to Syed Rahman, Stuart Angus and Joanna Atogdina for kindly volunteering on the day.
Many of the staff members who attended had learned about the retreat from joining in the mindfulness drop-in sessions we run weekly. You can find out more about these and our mindfulness offer at Keeping Well here.
As the Winter Retreat Day was such a success, we’re now hoping to run a summer retreat day for staff- stay tuned for more!
